"Unlike any other competitions, Apollo provides real international exposures and opportunities to form connections with artists from the most prestigious schools. It is a rare and wonderful opportunity to be able to learn directly from these world-class professional artists. We really appreciate the effort done by the committee, as well as the generous prizes they give out."

— Mrs. Connie Tam

“I have never come across any competitions of such high standards. Apollo invites artists from the world's most distinguished academies to serve as judges, and the professionalism is of the highest level I have seen so far. As a parent and piano teacher, I hoped that my child would have the privilege of receiving professional feedback from the competition - it completely exceeded our expectations.

— Mrs. Wynee So

"I would join Apollo in a heartbeat again If there is another chance in future. I am very honored to have been able to attend Ms Julia Bullock’s virtual masterclass - it was awe-inspiring to learn directly from a world class singer of her calibre. Thank you once again for giving me the opportunity!"

— Gisele Lim, Top prize winner

FAQs

You may find the full Competition Guidelines here. Below are some of the most common questions we’ve received about the entries.
  • Contestants are required to take high resolution still shots of their work and upload for submission via file sharing hosting platform (eg. Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.). Contestants will be required to submit their URL link in application form.

  • Not this year. Apollo Competition 2023 will solely be conducted online.

  • Video can be recorded with phone camera or video camera, as long as it is in one take and unedited. Edited recordings will not be accepted. Video quality will not be part of the judging criteria.

  • Applicants must state their name, age, and choice of music (with composer’s name) and show their proof of identification (ID card or passport), at the beginning of the video.

  • Contestants will be judged on 4 main components: technicality, musicality, interpretation and stage presence.

  • Every entry will be reviewed by our jury panel. Full comments and remarks are available upon request in the application form process for an additional fee of HKD$350.

  • Accompaniment is not required but encouraged. Not only does it elevate the music-making process, this way jury members can assess applicants’ ability to collaborate and get a better sense of musicality.
